Palm-trees, cycads and the like

The palm family is made up of no less than 2000 species and is native to the Mediterranean area, Africa and the Tropics.They are extremely beautiful plants that lend themselves to creating very effective settings. The cycads, biologically and evolutionarily akin to the conifers, resemble, however, palms as regards their elegant bearing. Typical of tropical and sub-tropical climates, they are long-lived.
